Awkward question...might be TMI?

Do you take any narcotic pain relievers for the post c section pain? You say it has been 5 weeks, so I suspect you aren't taking them anymore. These medications can cause bowel abnormalities..mostly the constipation and hard stool. Is the blood in your stool bright red or dark? If it is bright red, then it is related to the stress of going to the bathroom, if it is dark, then it is from your stomach and will require attention of a doctor. Try to eat plenty of fiber, drink plenty of water, get as much exercise (of course gentle exercises like walking) if you are still feeling a little sore. If you continue to have pain and abnormal stools, I would recommend calling your gynecologist or family doctor about your symptoms. You did just have major surgery so don't let your symptoms go too long before you get them checked out by a professional. I hope it resolves quickly! Good Health!
